The Walpurgis Vol2 takes the foundation of the original JFET-based emulation of a late ’60s Laney Supergroup amplifier and plunges even deeper into the void. Now, we’ve fully unlocked the Supergroup EQ, volume, and gain—previously hidden behind the wall of sleep—and fused them with a fully adjustable, modified Rangemaster boost, inspired by the legendary Dunwich Rangeblaster design.
Featuring an internal 36V of headroom for authentic tube-like tone and response, the Walpurgis Vol2 is a JFET based emulation of the preamp section of a late ‘60s Laney Supergroup amplifier with the Ritual knob controlling the level of a modified Rangemaster boost.
Step into Tony and Geezer’s legendary Sabbathic guitar and bass tones from the ’60s, ’70s, and beyond. Use the input toggle to the right for those iconic Iommi Supergroup ‘Bass Input’ tones, and dial up the Ritual and Range knobs to blend in the Rangemaster boost for that signature Iommic overdrive. Flip it left and zero out the Ritual knob for the classic Geezer ‘Treble Input’ bass sound, or center it for a high-gain, jumped-channel configuration reminiscent of Matt Pike’s Supergroup setup on Sleep’s The Sciences.
The Walpurgis Vol2 can be used as an overdrive pedal into the front end of your amplifier or as a dedicated preamp into your effects return or standalone power amp.
Controls
Bass: Adjusts the low-frequency response of the Supergroup preamp.
Mid: Adjusts the mid-frequency response of the Supergroup preamp.
Treb: Adjusts the high-frequency response of the Supergroup preamp.
Pres: Adjusts the upper high-frequency response of the Supergroup preamp.
Vol: Adjusts the overall output level of the pedal.
Gain: Adjusts the level of gain applied to the signal in the Supergroup preamp emulation.
Ritual: Adjusts the wet / dry blend of the modified Rangemaster boost. Set this control at 0 to remove the Rangemaster boost from the circuit entirely.
Range: Controls the boosted frequency range of the modified Rangemaster. Set this control at 0 for a biting treble boost; roll it up for a thicker, full range boost.
Input Toggle: Input setting for the Supergroup preamp. Three adjustable levels of gain: Bass Input (right position), Treble Input (left position), Jumped Input (center position)
Power
Use only a standard 9v DC power supply with a 2.1mm negative-center barrel. An isolated power supply is recommended. Power supply not included.

The perfect pedal for any Sabbath fan – but also perfect for heavier Doom and Sludge. Sounds amazing with both light gain and heavy, with tone ranging from light fuzz to metal distortion. Incredible note clarity and tons of control. Possibly the best pedal from Does It Doom since the Baghdad. Pinch Harmonics sound amazing even with very light gain, which is something I value.

I did some research and decided I wanted the original Walpurgis to be my first DID pedal. That was a week before this version was announced for May 2025. I decided to wait and I’m so glad I did. I had hoped for “Black Sabbath in a box” and this ended up being so much more than that. Equipment like this both preserves music history while sitting on the cutting edge of contemporary sound design. The authenticity of the tones coming out of this thing is truly ideal, so much fun to play. This is at least a $3000 experience made available for $300, absolutely worth it. This pedal grants you access to full control over legendary tones, making the Vol2 a source of power entirely its own. It also still stacks really well with other pedals, which is something we can all be excited about. The content people are putting out is really great, but I can promise you, this thing sounds even better in person! The Laney half of the circuit has such a nice bite to it, and it cleans up well. Incorporating the modified rangemaster circuit takes it to a whole other level. I really appreciate that it can boost more than just treble. I didn’t even see the 3 way toggle switch until after I placed the order. In my opinion it triples the value of this pedal. I just spent the last year and a half carefully updating my recording set up. I can’t recommend Does it Doom enough, they’ve been a huge game changer in my hunt for the tone and quality I’m looking for.

Another home run hit by Does It Doom! Absolutely love this thing, it immediately knocked my preamp pedal off my board. Perfect sabbath machine. This plus the Masochist is an insane combo. I was excited about this release, and I gotta say it exceeded my expectations in the best way. It’s gonna be on my main board for a very long time.

To be honest, I didn’t even care about the Sabbath tones (although I love them!), I was looking for a preamp type of pedal to stack it with my other dirt boxes. And I was sooo right! It gives me tone, clarity, light or high overdriven tones and helped me shape my other muffs and fuzzes, that are before the new Walpurgis. I’m fascinated by this pedal.
Thank You, Does it Doom.

The Walpurgis 2,
Is another outstanding pedal by Does It Doom,
Whether you’re searching for that awesome, Dark Black Sabbath tone,
Or running this in front of other dirt pedals,
This pedal delivers in spades!
With the pre-Amp and EQ of the famous Laney
Supergroup amp,
You can really scope and shape some outstanding tones with this pedal,
Not to mention having a Range-master boost on top of that,
Along with a three position toggle ,
for more tonal variations!
—-just buy one!
you won’t regret it!

The Walpurgis Vol 2 sounds absolutely killer. It’s really versatile and gives you access to a ton of different tones. So far I’m really digging the jumped channel select. I stacked it with my MXR Distortion + and it sounded pretty brutal. I’m looking forward to exploring all the tones this pedal has to offer. Highly recommend.

Just started playing with it. Great pedal! So much better in sound than the original. I think the added knobs are the answer to the better sound. Thanks Steve for the added pedal to the collection.

Killer pedal. Great early Sabbath tones. The knobs give you a wide range of gain and tonal control. Definitely glad I bought this to put on my board!

Amazing vintage amp sim? Worlds best overdrive pedal? Blackmagic wonder pedal? Of course the Walpurgis Vol 2 is all of the above! I’m not a full on Sabbath tone chaser, but I do love the sound and this thing pedal gets it right! I’m a hobbyist home studio guy usually running Amplitube 5 into Garage Band for all my recording so my review is coming from that angle.
You can really nail the iconic Iommi tones with this pedal as a straight di but you pun it through Garage Bands transparent power amp with the “vintage British 4×12” cab and it comes to life with amazing vintage Sabbath tone. Put a Rat or a fuzz in front of it and you have a fantastic sounding Laney Supergroup to fit your studio or live needs at a fraction of the cost! I am dying to get a Big Muff in front of this pedal!
As an overdrive it really kills as well. In front of an OR120 and Orange 4×12 cab with the gain cranked on the pedal and eq set to taste gives you a killer combo. This makes a fantastic overdrive or even just a boost with all of the available settings to tweak. Play with the settings and you will find great tones to push your amp to the next level.
Overall this pedal is fantastic and really makes me want to get my hands on a Masochist to go with it.

The walpurgis vol 2 pedal is a phenomenal pedal. Works great as a pre-amp and an overdrive. Pulls off the sabbath tone perfectly, but it covers a lot of tones, in the sludge, doom, drone genres. I was surprised as how responsive it is if you use a valve amp behind the pre-amp. This is my 3rd Does It Doom pedal. The expanded pedals are brilliant. Well done to Steve and Nick for creating something brilliant, yet again.

Walpurgis Vol2, this pedal is amazing. Easily dialled in a Master of Reality album tone on my rig with this and some extra eq to suit my SG with SD pickups. True Iommi tone! 😀

Phenomenal pedal! I wish I’d heard about and purchased it long ago, it could have saved me so much $$$ wasted on mediocre sounding pedals. To my surprise, this pedal does so much more than just Iommi’s tones. In just the short amount of time I’ve experimented with it, I have also managed to get a more than decent Richie Blackmore and Brian May type sound. The Walpurgis will never leave my board!

I’ve waited a while to review since purchase, but WOW. I wanted a Tony Iommi accurate overdrive pedal and I received so much more… This pedal is so versatile and calculated in its unique approach to emulating Tony’s supergroup. But if you are gifted with such a wide range of tone/sound options to dial in yourself. Thankyou Does It Doom !!!!
